Colorado College ("CC") is a private, four-year, highly selective liberal arts college of 2,100 undergraduate students and a small Master of Arts in teaching program. Located on a 99-acre campus adjacent to downtown Colorado Springs, the campus sits on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains at the foot of Pikes Peak. The college operates an innovative Block Plan curriculum, where students take one course at a time for three and a half weeks.

The Colorado College Department of Athletics sponsors 17 varsity programs: 15 at the NCAA Division III level (members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, except Men's Lacrosse (independent) and Women's Lacrosse (WIAC affiliate)) and two at the Division I level (Men's Hockey in the NCHC and Women's Soccer as an affiliate of the MWC).

About the role

Oversees the NCAA compliance approach for a highly competitive multi-division institution. Plans for, directs, and enforces the division's compliance with NCAA, conference, and college rules and regulations. Oversees the coordination and implementation of a holistic student-athlete support program, including campus resources and strategies for academic, athletic, and personal development.

Responsibilities

  • NCAA Compliance, Governance, and Regulatory Administration:
    • Serve as the department's strategic leader, educator, planner, and communicator regarding evolving NCAA and conference regulations.
    • Direct and manage all aspects of NCAA compliance, including recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility, financial aid, amateurism, and playing and practice season requirements.
    • Provide timely interpretations, training, and education on NCAA, conference, and institutional policies to coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
    • Oversee the administration of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) and revenue-sharing programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
    • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental compliance policies and procedures.
    • Compile, analyze, and submit required reports to the NCAA and federal agencies.
  • Student-Athlete Success and Support Services:
    • Provide leadership and exceptional service in support of student-athlete success and well-being.
    • Plan, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive student-athlete support model connecting students with campus resources.
    • Serve as Co-Advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and provide guidance while fostering compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA standards.
  • Campus Partnerships and External Collaboration:
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key campus partners to support student-athlete success and regulatory compliance.
    • Serve as the department liaison to the Registrar, Advising Hub, Admissions, and Financial Aid offices to ensure alignment with NCAA requirements.
    • Oversee communication and strategic planning between the Admissions Office and coaching staff.
    • Coordinate with Residential Life and Dining Services to support student-athletes during vacation and holiday break periods.
  • Athletic Program Oversight and Operations:
    • Provide administrative oversight and support for assigned athletic programs, ensuring effective operations, compliance, and alignment with departmental goals.
    • Assist with the coordination of championship events and provide leadership to operational areas as needed.
  • Leadership, Supervision, and Budget Administration:
    • Provide leadership and supervision for assigned athletics department staff, including the Director of Business Operations and the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations.
    • Serve as an active member of the divisional budget committee, contributing to financial planning, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of three years of experience in athletic administration and NCAA compliance.
  • Experience supervising/managing full-time employees.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Budgetary and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with initiative and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel with designated teams.

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education, or one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
