Associate Assistant County Attorney - County Attorney

This is professional legal work involving advanced legal research, legal writing and preparation for court appearances. Once admitted to the New York State Bar, the incumbent also serves as legal counsel in the County Attorney’s Office. Work is assigned by and performed under the general supervision of the County Attorney or Chief Assistant County Attorney.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced legal research and writing
• Prepare for court appearances
• Serve as legal counsel in the County Attorney’s Office (upon admission to the New York State Bar)
• Perform related work as required

Requirements

• Possession of a J.D., LL.B. or LL.M. Degree
• Must obtain a license to practice law in New York State within one (1) year of the date of permanent appointment
• Must be a U.S. citizen in accordance with Public Officers Law
• Pre-employment screenings required
