About the role

Mastercard is hiring an Associate Analyst – Legal Compliance for its Compliance team in Pune. The role focuses on reviewing sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening matches, monitoring anti-money laundering (AML) transaction alerts, and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements across Mastercard’s global prepaid card business.

Responsibilities

  • Log, review, investigate, and escalate sanctioned party and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) referrals in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Monitor and investigate AML transaction alerts across the global prepaid card business to identify suspicious activities.
  • Review and investigate suspicious activity reports received from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct further enquiries into unusual activities and escalate cases where required.
  • Draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) for submission to card issuers and relevant crime or government agencies.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of all cases.
  • Ensure evidence is properly maintained and decisions are accurately documented.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Sound decision-making skills with the ability to provide supporting justifications.
  • An understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions requirements is beneficial, though full training will be provided.
