About the role
This is not a teaching position. Your role is motivation. The most meaningful support you can offer a student who has reached 99% of their target is to insist it is not finished.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts on subjects including public speaking, focus, feedback, and other transferable competencies, modifying the playbook and creating new sessions when gaps are identified
- Conducting daily one-on-one and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student to 100% completion of their weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and individual relationships to overcome resistance
- Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, and working with students who do not pass until mastery is achieved
- Adjusting your approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to eighth graders needing direct conversation and accountability
- Serving as the adult who maintains expectations and the adult students trust; warmth establishes credibility to challenge, and challenging demonstrates belief in their capability
Requirements
- Able to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT - relocation assistance provided
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (classroom instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program management)
- A concrete example you can share of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal: the objective, your actions, and the result
- Comfort allowing AI to deliver instructional content while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development
- Regular use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
Qualifications
- Authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship (or in Canada for the Toronto campus)
Skills
- Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
- Experience with generative AI tools
Benefits
- Full health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
