Education and Experience

Masters Degree in Business or Health Care related field and a minimum of 7 years managerial experience in an academic Medical Center.
- or -
Bachelor’s degree in health or business administration and minimum of 10 years managerial experience in an academic medical center.

Essential Functions

  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates the activities of the Department’s ambulatory clinic operation and Professional fee billing offices.
  • Directs and integrates services within the department and with department partners by utilizing improvement strategies and tools to positively impact the clinical operations of the various sites.
  • Works with Division Heads, Faculty physicians, FPI leadership, Hospital leadership and other departments in expanding the clinical operations.
  • Works with department leaders in the review and interpretation of clinical operational problems/policies. Resolves problems and recommends changes to the Department Chair, Senior Administrator, and Department Leadership.
  • Affords assistance in the selection, employment, development and management of employees. Participates in creation and implementation of department personnel policies and practices.
  • Oversees department’s evaluation and negotiations of managed care contracts, and operations in conjunction with department leaders.
  • Collaborates with other departments in monitoring medical activities to ensure the delivery of cost-effective and high-quality health care for patients.
  • Interacts with medical and administrative staff to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors clinical volume and internal controls for operations and expense management in all areas of clinical practice.

Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health care reimbursement, clinical operations and related information systems
Knowledge of governmental regulations and reimbursement requirements

Pay

Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
