Job Summary The Associate CNC Programmer produces quality programming for CNC machining in a parts manufacturing environment by applying knowledge of the working properties of materials with CNC programming knowledge to design and edit manufacturing execution system plans and orders. Principal Duties/Responsibilities (essential Functions) Evaluates engineering drawings/3D models and determines the most cost effective method of machining including developing tooling and holding fixtures as necessary. Programs one CNC machine, using post processors data such as CAIN, Esprit, and CATIA to produce a wide variety of machine parts working from engineering 3D models, 2D drawings/graphics, sketches and verbal instructions. Determines dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools and program machine speeds and feed rates to provide for maximum production. Communicates the intent of the CNC program/sequence of setup to CNC Operators. Provides set-up instructions and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine. Revises program to eliminate errors, omissions or engineering revision. Communicates engineering errors, via documented process. Determine material sizes to be used. Saves/Updates programming data file on company (DFJ) designated drive for backup capability and access by other programmers. Observes all safety procedures when developing program to ensure safe operation of the machines. Edit manufacturing execution system (MES) plans and orders as necessary for any corrections or changes in programming or engineering data Create articles in the article library Non-principal Duties/Responsibilities (non-essential Functions) All other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 1 year of machine experience or Technical School Programming Certification Strong computer skills: Windows, Spreadsheets, etc. Must have good communication skills, and be open minded to suggestions from others Possess tool and fixture trouble shooting knowledge necessary to maximize cutting speeds and feeds to reduce run time Strong understanding of basic machine principles Strong working knowledge of math and geometry and be able to work in both Metric and English units of measure Must be able to stand, kneel or crouch with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to climb to access machine platform with or without reasonable accommodation Additional Desired Qualifications 1 year of machine programming experience Various Programming CAM (Computer Aid Manufacturing) Software, and Numeric Codes applications Advanced Programming Training in 2 and 3 axis programming CATIA Programming experience CAD/CAM experience CATIA 3D Models and Surfaces ESPRIT software experience Sheetmetal flattening experience Community or technical college degree 2 and 3 axis machining experience 5 axis programming experience Working Conditions Work in a production environment Employee will be subject to normal machining environment to confer with machinist(s) and must not be allergic to machining dust, particles. Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time, able to walk up and down stairs This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position because it includes as part of the essential job duties operating equipment and tools on a routine basis. Additionally, the duties of this position concern the service and completion of aircraft, and overall airworthiness of the aircraft. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of this employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while performing safety activities. Compensation And Benefits The compensation for this position typically falls between $25.76 and $34.21 per hour. This position is eligible for overtime. This position may be eligible for shift differential. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
