Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Comply with all state rules and regulations, Board of Education policy, and administrative procedures
- Comply with all of the requirements regarding reports, record keeping, etc. in a timely manner
- Knows disability related issues that may interfere with a student's access to the learning environment, including appropriate interventions, devices/tools, and solutions
- Works effectively as a member of a team
- Contributes creative solutions to problems
- Uses training and experience to support classroom instruction
- Determines skills and abilities of the educational team
- Delegates duties to provide the most effective opportunities for students
- Makes sure the effectiveness of the implementation of the assistive technology tools
- Provides direction and training as needed
- Demonstrates proficient strategies for instruction, including; communication with students, using questioning techniques, use of engagement strategies and demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to student instructional needs
- Provides training and resources for district staff, building staff, student teams, students, and parents
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in itinerant settings
- Travel to various buildings to provide assistive technology support
- Order, track, and dispense inventory of assistive/sped devices and software
- Other duties related to the position as assigned
Skills And Experience Required
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- A Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Special Education endorsement
- A minimum of 3 years experience working with students with special needs
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
- Ability to effectively prioritize and address multiple tasks at any given time
- Ability to problem solve the needs of students and staff in a solution focused manner
- Exceptional people skills; ability to facilitate conversations with staff and interact effectively with students
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, interpersonal skills, articulation, and organization
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and travel between buildings
