Assistant Youth Sports Coach
About Us
Soccer Stars is the leading youth sports program for children ages 12 months to 13 years in Long Island and Eastern Queens. Our acclaimed program provides an energetic, enjoyable, and age-suitable introduction to the fantastic game of soccer by providing classes, camps, and clinics held in schools, community centers, and local parks. We take pride in our creative curriculum, which focuses not only on soccer skills but also on fostering social skills and character development, creating a positive and lasting impact on every child we coach. We also offer multisport programs as well as non-contact martial arts programs!
Responsibilities
- Show up on time for every class to set yourself up for success
- Use individual attention to ensure every child has success
- Use a non-competitive approach to ensure classes are fun with a stress-free environment
- Use positive reinforcement to encourage children to do better and celebrate success
- Have a blast and be open-minded, knowing that coaching is a continuous journey
- Strive to be better by attending regular trainings and following the Super Soccer Stars Coaching Manual
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to local schools with your own reliable transportation
- The ability and willingness to travel can lead to more work
- Pass a background check
Qualifications
- Passion for sports / fitness and working with young children, in particular those ages 1-5
- A background in fitness a plus (athletics, sports, dance, cheer, gymnastics, martial arts, exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, etc.)
- A background working with children a plus (camp counselor, elementary education substitute teacher, coach, etc.)
- At least 18 years of age

- Tuesdays, 3:30pm-5:00pm
- Wednesdays, 2:50pm-4:15pm
- Saturdays, 9:00am-1:30pm

Competitive pay starting at $20/hour
Schedule
The majority of classes are held during the preschool, after school hours, and on weekends. The ideal candidate would have the availability on the days and times listed below. Candidates must have consistent availability for the classes they are hired for. Candidates with flexible or open availability are preferred. There may be work in surrounding towns such as Oceanside, Merrick, and Freeport.
