About the role

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced professional who is passionate about nurturing great minds and connecting with the community. The position involves working at various childcare sites within the region.

Responsibilities

  • Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining control of environments that build children’s self-esteem.
  • Implementing curriculum for the program, ensuring it is child-centered and developmentally appropriate.
  • Overseeing classroom staff and providing quality and appropriate adult/child interactions through engagement, positive feedback, and asking open-ended questions.
  • Using positive reinforcement techniques for behavior management and being patient and kind with parents/guardians.
  • Accurately maintaining daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports, as well as compliant paperwork.
  • Maintaining centers with quality learning materials and organizing them in labeled containers.
  • Attending team planning meetings monthly or more as needed.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or enrollment in 2+ years of child development coursework.
  • 2+ years of verified child care experience.
  • Prior experience working with children (professional, volunteer, or familial).
  • A passion for working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
  • To pass all relevant clearances and keep up to date on trainings, including 6 hours of child care-related trainings annually.
