About the role

The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach is responsible for assisting with coaching, instructing, and coordinating various program related activities. The position adheres to the rules and regulations established by Bay College and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Responsibilities

  • Teach sport skills, condition and motivate student-athletes to positive action and utilize effective strategies to produce a successful student experience.
  • Aid in planning, preparation and administration of practice plans and competition strategy plans.
  • Assist with all aspects, areas, and components of the Norse basketball program.
  • Represent the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the community.
  • Support the vision/mission of Bay College by providing student success, culture of success and community success.
  • Support all college efforts for student completion.
  • Recruit a sufficient number of new student-athletes annually and retain current student-athletes, in accordance with NJCAA rules and regulations, through scouting, attending games/tournaments, and home visits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years High School or Collegiate playing or coaching experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sports program.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to lead and guide student-athletes.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
  • Ability to adapt to change in processes and procedures.
  • Enthusiastic, people oriented, a winning attitude.
  • Passion for results.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of athletic recruitment, methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA regulations and guidelines governing recruitment and retention of student athletes.

Pay

Full-time/Part-time Part-Time Position Type Staff
Min Salary: $1,380 annually
Max Salary: $2,759 annually
FTE: 0.15

Schedule

Dependent upon practice and game schedule

Supervision

  • Exercised: Supervises Managers, and Student workers.
  • Received: Works under the general supervision of the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
