Assistant Women's Softball Positions Coach

About the role

The Assistant Women's Softball Pitching Coach will assist the Head Softball Coach with games, practices, recruiting prospective student-athletes, field prep requirements, as well as focusing on positions training and strategy. All responsibilities will be under the leadership of the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics. This is a part-time position. Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in Practice Planning
• Running Drills and Position Groups Specific to Infield and Outfield
• Shared Field Work After Practice and Before Game Days
• First Base Coach and Specific Position Coaching for Fall Play Date and spring Games
• Recruiting – ability to work at camps and recruiting events during summer and fall

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• One or more years of successful high school, college, or private coaching experience preferred
• Thorough understanding of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate competition and adherence to NCAA standards
• Commitment to Regent’s core values of Excellence, Innovation, and Integrity

Skills

• Proven ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, in small groups, and in public speaking contexts
• Proven ability to communicate ideas and priorities effectively to promote teamwork and achieve desired results
• Demonstrated strategic planning skills and ability to assess the team’s competitive strengths and vulnerabilities
• Demonstrated skill in making strategic recommendations to enhance the team’s performance
• Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule

Pay

$15,000 annually

Schedule

• 24 Practice/Individual/Weights Days in the Fall plus Play Day
• Practices, Weight Training and All Games in the Spring
• Office time can be worked around other jobs/commitments if needed
