About the role
The position is a full-time position that reports to the Women's Basketball Head Coach. This position is defined as an exempt position under FLSA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Aiding in recruiting quality student-athletes in concert with the mission of the University.
- Aiding in developing and maintaining positive team culture and chemistry.
- Aiding in mentoring and counseling student-athletes.
- Aiding in planning and conducting practices.
- Aiding in scouting opponents and developing game strategies.
- Developing and maintaining familiarity with applicable University, Landmark Conference, and NCAA regulations.
- Representing the WBB program, River Hawk athletics, and Susquehanna University in a positive and professional manner.
- Assisting with game day responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with no experience; or three (3) years of relevant playing and/or coaching experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Deep understanding of and passion for the game of Basketball. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Additional Information for Applicant
- Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license and qualify under the university's insurance program to operate university or leased vehicles. CPR, AED and First Aid certification preferred.
- This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. The coach must complete annual CSA training and report any Clery Act crimes disclosed to them.
Physical Demands
- Must possess the physical stamina to effectively coach the sport.
- Position requires the ability to move about the campus.
- Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction.
- Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.
- Position requires walking and occasional stooping, crouching, and bending.
- Position requires occasional lifting and pushing.
- Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
