Assistant Warehouse Manager

About the role

Direct and coordinate cotton warehousing activities under the direction of the Warehouse Manager. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
• Prepare work order for repairs and replacement of equipment.
• Cook out activities of warehouse personnel.
• Coordinate salvage of damaged cotton.
• Participate in planning personnel safety and warehouse protection activities.
• Review production orders, schedules and reports, resolving any problems.
• Assist in planning of warehouse operations.
• Operate lift truck.
• Active member of the facility SHE Program.

Requirements

• Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses: Bachelor’s degree or three years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination.

Skills

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
• Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Able to present information and respond to questions pertaining to job.
• Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.

Skills

Required to regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required. These include good close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision. Good depth perception and the ability to focus are necessary.

Working Conditions

• Duties are performed in outside weather conditions, working frequently near moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional work done in high, precarious places and could be exposed to fumes and cotton dust.

Employee Supervision

Supervises all warehouse employees to ensure productivity and safety at all times.

Decision Making/Accountability

• Accountable for warehouse productivity and safety.
• Accountable for employee training, supervision, and the resolution of all employee complaints and problems.
• Accountable for maintenance of reports and other paperwork.
