About the role
This Opportunity WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Quality and Audit to support quality strategy and execution within the Power and Energy U.S. business line.
Responsibilities
- Translate enterprise quality priorities into practical actions that strengthen project delivery, improve consistency, reduce risk, and support successful business outcomes.
- Serve as a key partner to Business Line leadership, project teams, and operational stakeholders by supporting quality planning, governance, assessments, and continuous improvement efforts across the portfolio.
- Work closely with Operations, Project Delivery, and Health and Safety leaders to help embed quality into day-to-day delivery activities.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and support targeted actions that strengthen execution and client confidence.
- Develop a positive and integrated HSEQ culture focused on accountability, communication, and proactive risk management.
- Support Business Line Quality activities that strengthen consistency, governance, planning, and execution across projects and programs.
- Conduct and support Drop-In Assessments, project reviews, internal audits, and external audit activities, including documentation review, findings management, corrective actions, and trend analysis.
- Support development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality procedures, tools, and the Quality Management System, including alignment with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Identify recurring risks, lessons learned, and systemic improvement opportunities through analysis of operational and quality data.
- Provide practical guidance and coaching to project teams related to quality planning, review practices, documentation, and implementation of Project Quality Plans.
- Partner with Operations and Project Delivery teams to support quality-related training, onboarding, awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Use digital tools, automation, data insights, and emerging AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, visibility, and quality outcomes.
- Promote a positive, integrated Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality culture through proactive communication, engagement, and early identification of emerging risks.
Requirements
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in engineering, professional services, project delivery, construction, operations, or quality management.
- Experience supporting Power and Energy teams, projects, or operational priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across matrixed organizations and build effective relationships with project teams and leadership.
- Understanding of project delivery risk, quality planning, and operational execution within multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience supporting audits, assessments, quality reviews, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to influence and support teams across varying levels of the organization.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- HSEQ-related professional qualifications or certifications.
- Internal or external auditing experience, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001.
- Experience supporting ISO and NQA-1 certification activities and audit coordination.
- Membership in a professional quality or safety organization, such as ASQ or IOSH.
- Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with diverse portfolios and project types.
- Experience using Microsoft Power Platform tools, particularly Power BI, to support reporting, trend analysis, automation, or decision-making.
- Interest in leveraging digital tools, automation, and emerging AI technologies to improve efficiency, reporting, and quality performance.
