Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees the underwriting process for new Property and Casualty accounts and renewals of medium to high complexity.
  • Develops portfolio strategies and meets profitability targets.
  • Develops a disciplined underwriting approach, adhering to standards and best practices for underwriting and ensuring program results are profitable for the company and the carriers.
  • Establishes and enforces consistent underwriting best practices within the team, aligning with underwriting guidelines to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy.
  • Manages the communication of risk coverages and value proposition to brokers/agents, and collaborates to understand deal structures, terms, and services that best meet clients’ needs.
  • Identifies market expansion opportunities, partners with senior management and cross-functional teams to set clear objectives and develops strategies to grow the business.
  • Leverages consultative marketing and sales skills to promote products and drives the integration of technologies to streamline underwriting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Safeguards financial integrity by regularly assessing and validating expenses and drives prudent budget management.
  • Conducts marketing visits to executives and decision makers of key strategic accounts and participates in underwriting meetings and educational seminars.
  • Ensures the ease of doing business with organization by meeting or exceeding expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other relevant stakeholders, focused on growing the business within the assigned authority.

Work Experience And Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial or Business Administration required.
  • Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
  • 6+ years of experience in Property and Casualty Underwriting.
  • 3 years+ of management experience is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • State P&C and/or surplus line license is required.
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) a plus.

Pay

The target salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $165,000.00 annually. The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
