Assistant Vice President,Portfolio Manager

About the role

As Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Manager – Commercial, you will analyze, structure, underwrite, and coordinate the closing of major and complex loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures. You will work with the Vice President, Commercial Banker to manage loans, ensuring credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified. You will assist in attaining established Bank, region, and branch goals through active participation in underwriting and closing desirable credits. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with all Bank policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.

You will interface with clients in-person, over the phone, and via email to assess their credit needs, determine the best structure, and gather necessary information for analysis. You will present financing requests to senior management or Loan Committee for approval alongside the Relationship Manager. You will coordinate the processing of approved loans to ensure they meet customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies, while also handling various underwriting, portfolio management, and upkeep tasks related to new loan requests or the existing portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, structure, and underwrite major and complex loans in compliance with Bank lending policies.
• Work with the Vice President, Commercial Banker to manage and monitor credit risks within the loan portfolio.
• Assist in achieving Bank, region, and branch goals through active participation in underwriting and closing credits.
• Ensure compliance with all Bank policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
• Interface with clients to assess credit needs, determine optimal loan structures, and gather necessary documentation.
• Present financing requests to senior management or Loan Committee for approval.
• Coordinate processing of approved loans to ensure they meet customer needs and Bank policies.
• Obtain sufficient information and documentation from customers to facilitate loan processing and servicing.
• Assist in resolving problems related to loan processing and servicing within the Relationship Manager’s portfolio.
• Reinforce superior customer service through direct interaction and follow-through with customers and employees.
• Handle various underwriting, portfolio management, and administrative tasks for new loan requests and existing portfolios.

Requirements

• 4+ years of related experience in Portfolio Management or a similar field.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and commercial banking products and services.
• Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, and regulations, as well as industry standards and practices.
• Intermediate knowledge of commercial credit, loan structuring, and pricing dynamics; completed credit analyst training.
• Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.

Pay

Salary range for new hires is $115,435.00 – $140,000.00 for San Francisco, CA. Salary is determined by specific job location. The role may also be eligible for annual bonus/incentives and restricted stock.
