Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi-campus institution located in scenic Upstate New York, with locations in Troy and Malta. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). About the Role
The Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. This role supports academic departments with curriculum and program initiatives, coordinates workforce development strategies, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements from the State University of New York (SUNY) and the State Education Department (SED).
Responsibilities
- Assist academic departments with curriculum and program initiatives, including researching viability and marketability of new degree programs and facilitating proposal development, review, and approval.
- Coordinate workforce development strategies across academic departments.
- Work closely with SUNY and SED to manage documentation for approval of new degree programs or revisions to existing programs, provide regulatory information, and maintain progress reports.
- Facilitate the Five-Year Departmental Review, Academic Program Accreditation, and External Program Review processes, including organizing reports, gathering data, and managing external reviews.
- Collaborate with the Center for Counseling and Transfer on academic program articulation processes.
- Facilitate Affiliation Agreements with off-site educational settings.
- Participate in College Committees and external meetings as directed by the Provost.
- Support new academic initiatives such as Guided Pathways, Micro-credentials, credit and noncredit pathway development, and stackable credentials.
- Assist with the development of assessment plans, including designing objectives, selecting instruments, compiling data, and writing reports.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration on accessible course design.
- Monitor academic regulatory compliance initiatives and support ADA Title II accessibility requirements.
- Assist in monitoring progress on departmental goals and unit plans.
- Support SUNY Academic Momentum Initiatives and coordinate Academic Unit Plans and the Budget process.
- Oversee implementation of HVCC General Education requirement approvals and course lists.
- Represent the Office of the Provost and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree and at least three (3) years of professional experience in a post-secondary academic setting.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Doctorate.
- Professional experience in curriculum development, implementation, and oversight of postsecondary academic programs and policies.
- Demonstrated experience with academic assessment, shared governance, and supervisory experience.
