Assistant Vice President, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer

About the role

The AVP, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer position at Western & Southern Financial Group involves setting and executing the enterprise information security strategy, leading day-to-day operations, and providing senior-level reporting and budget oversight.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CISO and key stakeholders to establish, communicate and execute the enterprise information security strategy and roadmap.
• Lead daily operations across Information Security, including Cybersecurity Operations, Data Protection, Security Architecture and Engineering, IAM and Security Governance.
• Support the development, implementation and monitoring of enterprise information security, compliance and risk management programs.
• Develop, maintain and enforce company-wide information security policies, standards and procedures.
• Maintain awareness of the external threat environment and advise stakeholders on appropriate courses of action.
• Lead and coordinate response to information security incidents and events.
• Provide senior-level reporting on the status, effectiveness and performance of the Information Security function.
• Manage budget planning, expense oversight, audit remediation, internal initiatives and portfolio-level deliverables.
• Collaborate with IT and business partners in support of disaster recovery, business continuity and enterprise resilience.
• Recruit, develop and coach managers, directors and associates to strengthen leadership depth and team capability.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in information security, computer science, information technology or commensurate selection criteria experience. At least 10 years of management-level experience, preferably across risk management, information security and IT-related roles. Proven ability to influence stakeholders and guide groups toward recommended courses of action. Experience leading complex programs, analyzing information, evaluating output quality and driving effective decisions. Demonstrated experience developing and executing information security policies, procedures and programs in a dynamic environment. Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements such as the New York Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Regulation, NAIC Data Security Model Law and HIPAA. Strong executive communication skills with the ability to explain security and risk matters clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Leadership presence, sound judgment and the ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure situations. Strong analytical, critical thinking, financial management and resource management skills. One or more security certifications such as CISSP, GSE, CRISC, CISM, CISA or CGEIT are expected upon hire.
