About the role
The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia prosecutes federal criminal offenses and defends the interests of the United States. Responsibilities
- Prosecute federal criminal offenses
- Prepare and present appeals
- Handle diverse caseloads independently
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated team in the Criminal Division
- Handle own trials and appeals
- Perform tasks with minimal guidance in a high-demand environment
Requirements
- J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
- U.S. citizenship required
- Reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof
- Pass background investigation and drug test
- Pass selective service requirement (if male and born after 12/31/1959)
Qualifications
- Required: J.D. Degree, active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
- Preferred: Self-motivated, strong analytical ability, excellent communication and courtroom skills, commitment to professionalism, ethics, justice, and public service
Benefits
Salary range: $76,748 to $197,100, including 17.06% locality pay. Additional benefits include telework, life insurance, health benefits, and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System.
