About the role

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia prosecutes federal criminal offenses and defends the interests of the United States. Responsibilities

• Prosecute federal criminal offenses
• Prepare and present appeals
• Handle diverse caseloads independently
• Work collaboratively with a dedicated team in the Criminal Division
• Handle own trials and appeals
• Perform tasks with minimal guidance in a high-demand environment

Requirements

• J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
• U.S. citizenship required
• Reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof
• Pass background investigation and drug test
• Pass selective service requirement (if male and born after 12/31/1959)

Qualifications

• Required: J.D. Degree, active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
• Preferred: Self-motivated, strong analytical ability, excellent communication and courtroom skills, commitment to professionalism, ethics, justice, and public service

Benefits

Salary range: $76,748 to $197,100, including 17.06% locality pay. Additional benefits include telework, life insurance, health benefits, and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System.
