About the role

The United States Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida (MDFL), is seeking to hire an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) to serve in the Criminal Division, Orlando Office. The applicant selected will represent the U.S. Government as an AUSA on a wide range of unique and complex cases.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the U.S. Government on a wide range of unique and complex cases.
  • Increase responsibilities and assignments as training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a J.D. degree (or equivalent) and be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) by entry on duty date.
  • Must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: Must possess a J.D. degree (or equivalent) and be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) by entry on duty date. Law school graduates and current law students taking a July 2026 bar examination may be considered, subject to the foregoing requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Excellent academic credentials and some litigation experience, preferably at least three years. Computer literacy, superior oral and written communication skills, strong character, excellent interpersonal skills, capacity to function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment, and strong commitment to public service.

Benefits

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $76,748 to $197,100, which includes 17.06% locality pay.
