Assistant to the Dean- Associate Degree RN and PN Programs
Position Description
The Assistant to the Dean of Nursing provides direct academic and administrative support to the Dean, with a primary focus on curriculum development, academic program coordination, and accreditation compliance. This position serves as a key liaison between the Dean, program directors, faculty, and campus stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
Affords the Dean in developing, reviewing, and revising curriculum for ADN and PN programs to ensure alignment with accreditation standards, industry needs, and student outcome goals.
Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and curriculum chairs to ensure course content is current, clinically relevant, and pedagogically sound.
Assists in recommending, developing and evaluating instructional technologies, simulation resources, and other tools that support curriculum delivery.
Supports the Dean in preparing for and maintaining compliance with accreditation bodies and applicable state nursing boards.
Monitors regulatory and licensure updates that affect program standards and communicates changes to the Dean and relevant stakeholders.
Serves as a point of contact for faculty and program directors seeking guidance on curriculum processes and academic policies.
Manages the Dean's calendar, correspondence, meeting coordination, and project tracking as needed.
Facilitates timely communication of curriculum changes, policy updates, and academic initiatives to faculty and program directors.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable jurisdiction required.
Minimum of three (3) years of nursing education experience, including direct involvement in curriculum development or instructional design.
Experience in an academic administrative or program coordination role preferred.
Familiarity with nursing accreditation standards and state board of nursing requirements preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of nursing curriculum frameworks, instructional design principles, and program assessment practices.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with a high attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear reports and correspondence.
Proficiency with learning management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and academic database tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and clinical partners across multiple campuses.
Self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic environment.
