About the Role

As an Assistant CAD Designer, you’ll support the Senior CAD Designer/Senior Designer in executing a strategic, customer-centric vision while meeting sales and profit objectives. This role leverages technical expertise to develop prints, color combinations, graphics, and fabric simulations, ensuring the product assortment aligns with seasonal trends and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • In-Season Forecasting:
    • Assist in trend research for seasonal prep and concept milestone meetings, focusing on prints, colorways, embellishments, graphics, and ornamental treatments.
    • Collaborate on in-season print/pattern adjustments based on sales, margin, and turn forecasts in partnership with Product Development and Buying teams.
    • Recommend print/pattern assortments to key stakeholders and management.
    • Identify key prints/patterns for each classification.
    • Adhere to the seasonal time and action calendar.
  • Assortment Vision, Strategy & Selection:
    • Aid in designing and developing colorways, prints, and fabric simulations (wovens, knits, foils).
    • Recolor and design prints, jacquards, embroidery, embellishments, yarn dyes, and graphics.
    • Scan and clean up prints to assist vendors in executing the proper number of screens.
    • Create proper repeats of patterns and prepare print boards for presentations and markets.
    • Design graphics for prints, logos, and companion prints.
    • Conduct competitive shopping for trend and research development.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain and organize file structures for internal and external partners using SharePoint and PLM.
    • Process and save print studio files.
  • Vendor & Team Collaboration:
    • Maintain industry connections to identify new business opportunities and generate ideas.
    • Build and maintain relationships with overseas and domestic vendors, marketing, and technical design teams.
    • Communicate daily with design and product teams to share print/pattern development direction.
    • Assist in selecting and approving patterns, scale, and colors.
    • Utilize design software for style, color, and pattern development.
    • Identify print opportunities and provide suggestions.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • 1–3 years of direct experience in CAD design; retail or design internships preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating prints, color combinations, graphics, and fabric simulations.
  • Strong trend research and color/print sense.
  • Technical expertise in wovens, knits, foils, and pattern development.
  • Creative problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with vendors and internal teams.
  • Resilience and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including accessing electronic information, collaborating with teams, and moving within the work environment.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule based on department and company needs.
