Assistant Technical Designer
About the role
The Assistant Technical Designer will aid the Technical Design Lead in developing and creating high quality, well-fitting apparel. This includes interpreting concepts into a technical package with complete information regarding fitting, sizing, grading, garment specifications and construction that correctly execute the intent of the Fashion Designer for the merchandise.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development and creation of high quality, well-fitting apparel.
- Translate the intent of Fashion Design into technical design specification packages (tech packs).
- Conduct fittings with guidance.
- Review and analyze garment construction.
- Support the development of a library of established fit blocks.
- Measure garments with accuracy.
- Take notes during fittings and other meetings.
- Pre-fit all samples prior to fitting on the model.
- Evaluate samples to ensure they meet grading, tolerance, and safety standards.
- Perform technical flat sketching.
- Spend time reviewing merchandise through e-commerce and retail channels to understand customer feedback regarding fit and construction.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Adhere to all processes, procedures, and standards.
- Meet all assigned dates in the Lilly Pulitzer® Product Development Calendar.
Qualifications
- A four-year college degree is required, preferably with a major/minor in Fashion Design.
- One to two years of Technical Design experience, preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
- Proficiency and comfort in using technology to support Technical Design, including The Centric® PLM System, the Pattern Design System Module of Accumark®, and the Adobe Suite of software including Illustrator and Acrobat.
- Basic computer skills, such as Outlook®, Word®, and Excel® in a Microsoft Windows® environment.
