Assistant Teaching Professor of Creativity, College of the Arts
The College of the Arts at Rowan University is seeking to hire a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor with an appointment to begin July 1, 2026. The College of the Arts is specifically interested in candidates who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
About the Role
This position will involve teaching course work within the PhD in Creativity program, intensive mentoring and support of all PhD in Creativity students, recruiting and reviewing applications, and designing the summer and winter intensive residences. The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in the humanities and professional experience in an arts discipline that involves embodied cognition. Experience supervising PhD candidates in transdisciplinary projects, namely projects that draw upon disparate disciplines to research and write their dissertations, is required. Active engagement in transdisciplinary research and writing is also expected.
Responsibilities
- Teach 30 credits per year, with an option to teach overload for additional compensation.
- Teach course work within the PhD in Creativity program.
- Mentor and support all PhD in Creativity students.
- Recruit and review applications.
- Design the summer and winter intensive residences.
Requirements
- PhD degree in the humanities.
- Professional experience in an arts discipline involving embodied cognition.
- Experience supervising PhD candidates in transdisciplinary projects.
- Active engagement in transdisciplinary research and writing.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is: Assistant Teaching Professor: Ranges 21-24 with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
Schedule
This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track appointment.
