Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences

About the Role
The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for non-tenure track, 12-month Assistant Teaching Professor positions in the areas of General Biology, Ecology, Microbiology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or Cell Biology. The department is committed to developing novel learning activities to prepare students for success in a fast-paced global environment. These are high-enrollment, high-demand courses, and teaching in other undergraduate upper and lower division courses may also be expected, depending on specialization and departmental needs.
Successful candidates will contribute to the department's service mission through participation in departmental committees and other service activities appropriate to their rank and interests. The anticipated start date is Fall 2027.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in General Biology, Ecology, Microbiology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or Cell Biology.
- Develop and implement novel learning activities to enhance student engagement and success.
- Teach additional undergraduate courses as needed, based on specialization and departmental needs.
- Participate in departmental service activities, including committee work and other initiatives.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in the biological sciences or a related field.
- Experience teaching active learning courses is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide an engaging and enriching learning experience for students.
