Job Information
The Department of Modern Languages at Florida International University, Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs in Miami, invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track, Assistant Teaching Professor position in Korean, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will teach Korean language courses in addition to culture courses taught in English or Korean. A full course load for this position is eight courses per year (four per semester) in various modalities. An M.A. in Korean is required, along with native or near-native fluency in both Korean and English. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching, evidenced by at least four years' experience teaching Korean language and culture courses at the university level. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in task-based language teaching, communicative language teaching, and experience working with adult language learners. Experience in curriculum development, program articulation, proficiency assessment, placement testing, service learning, or other areas of program development is also sought.
Qualifications
- M.A. in Korean
- Native or near-native fluency in Korean and English
- Strong commitment to teaching
- At least four years' experience teaching Korean language and culture courses at the university level
- Experience in task-based language teaching, communicative language teaching
- Experience working with adult language learners
- Experience in curriculum development, program articulation, proficiency assessment, placement testing, service learning, or other areas of program development
