Assistant PreK Teacher

Southside Early Childhood Center is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Pre-K Teacher to join our early learning team at our Jefferson location. Responsibilities

• Support daily routines such as meals, toileting/diapering, rest time, transitions, and play
• Assist with engaging, hands‑on, developmentally appropriate activities that promote language, motor skills, early problem‑solving, and social‑emotional learning
• Use the Conscious Discipline framework to respond to children's individual needs and help them navigate big feelings and peer interactions
• Encourage independence through guided self‑help opportunities (e.g., handwashing, putting on shoes, cleaning up materials, practicing routines)
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment that meets licensing and accreditation standards
• Build warm, supportive relationships with children and positive partnerships with families, including through home visits
• Communicate regularly with families about children's routines, progress, and daily experiences
• Follow all state licensing, health, and safety guidelines consistently

Qualifications

• Ability to work Monday–Friday, 9:00–5:30
• Experience working with young children (Pre-K preferred)
• CDA or associate's degree in early childhood or related (required)
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive, team‑oriented attitude
• Strong communication and classroom support skills
• Ability to meet background check and health requirements
