Assistant Teacher (Primer Guide) | Alabama

Responsibilities

• Support a safe, predictable classroom culture
• Build positive relationships with students
• Lead and support literacy and math small group instruction
• Prepare materials and help run Pursuits
• Notice student needs and communicate quickly
• Support the lead teacher by helping keep the classroom safe, orderly, and clean
• Absorb and assist with student supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and transitions
• Follow safety protocols and support coverage needs
• Communicate clearly and follow through on tasks

Requirements

• 1 or more years of experience working with children in some capacity
• Must be willing to report to work in person
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Warm, calm presence with children
• Reliable, consistent, and proactive
• Comfortable assisting with instruction
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

• Willingness to support the mission of Primer
• Ability to manage routine, hands-on support work
• Preference for leading instruction independently is not required
• Constant direction is not necessary
• Managing young children is not a requirement
• Disliking routine, hands-on support work is not a concern
