Assistant Teacher - Pre-K

Full-time, school-year position (August through June) with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of children in the assigned classroom.
• Maintain classroom according to DPW regulations and communicate effectively with children and fellow staff to ensure a positive and pleasant group atmosphere.
• Follow established emergency and accident procedures and provide immediate response to comfort children in distress.
• Communicate directly with children, encouraging and guiding them in age-appropriate activities with regular and meaningful interaction.
• Assist with attendance and other records as required.
• Attend trainings and maintain all certifications.
• Implement approved lesson plans and age-appropriate activities as planned by the Lead Teacher.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in early childhood education.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience working with diverse groups of young children.
• Thorough understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
• Ability to be mentally alert and observant at all times when responsible for children.
• Ability to speak and read clearly to communicate easily with children, with knowledge of language development.
• FBI, Child Abuse, and State Police Clearances.

Pay

$36,000 per year.
