The Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI®) is an innovative, research-based early childhood program designed to close the early learning achievement gap through play-based learning, language development, literacy, and STEAM experiences. At ELLI, we believe children learn best through relationships, exploration, and meaningful play. Our Assistant Teachers play an important role in supporting classroom experiences, building strong connections with children and families, and helping create safe, engaging learning environments where every child can thrive.

What You'll Do
- Support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging, play-based learning experiences for children.
- Build warm, responsive relationships with children and families.
- Auxiliary tasks including meals, diapering, toileting, transitions, rest time, and outdoor play.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Engage children in meaningful interactions that support language, literacy, social-emotional development, and early learning.
- Collaborate with classroom team members to support daily classroom operations.
- Observe children and share developmental information with teaching team members.
- Ensure the health and safety of children through active supervision and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Support implementation of ELLI’s curriculum and classroom experiences.
Requirements
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Experience: 1 year of experience working with specific age group
- Qualifications: Previous experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting
- Knowledge: Knowledge of Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS)
- Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Bilingual: Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
