Assistant Teacher - Enrichment

About the role

The Assistant Teacher - Enrichment position at Minnick Schools is dedicated to supporting students with special needs through daily classroom and community-based instruction. This role is part of the Career and Technical Education program.

Responsibilities

• Aid in classroom management and academic instruction.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and strategies.
• Obtain and implement Safety Care strategies to de-escalate negative behaviors.
• Maintain student records and assigned documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
• Maintain professional boundaries in all interactions.
• Assist classroom teachers with student supervision.
• Provide instruction and supervision of students when the teacher is not present.
• Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, and IEP meetings as requested.
• Arrive at work regularly and on time.
• Communicate professionally and convey dignity and respect to students, parents, colleagues, and other professionals.

Requirements and Prerequisites

• High School diploma/GED with at least one year’s experience in special education, mental health, or other direct services.
• Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
• Clean driving record required.
• Valid Virginia Drivers' License and proof of insurance if assigned driver.
• 10-month position.
• Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Must not have certain driving violations within the past 5 years.

Driving Specific

• No reckless driving, DUI, manslaughter, or other specified violations within the past 5 years.
• No passing a stopped school bus, careless driving, or multiple minor moving violations within the past 3 years.
