Assistant Teacher - Early Childhood Center (Pre-Kindergarten)

About the role

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher for our Early Childhood Center (Pre-Kindergarten) to collaborate with Pre-Kindergarten teaching faculty and help girls develop academic and social-emotional skills. This position offers new teachers the opportunity to work directly in a classroom with support and supervision from expert faculty. All Baldwin teachers participate in the life of the School and support its mission.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering instruction through individual, small group, and whole-class teaching
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan lessons and document student growth
• Supervise and assist students in navigating daily routines, such as transitions, meal times, and recess
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom space
• Perform arrival and dismissal duties
• Support attendance tracking, documentation of student work, and updates to learning platforms (e.g., Seesaw)
• Attend faculty/staff meetings, professional development sessions, parent-teacher conferences, and community events
• Other duties, as assigned by the Head of Lower School or the Head of School

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood or elementary education
• Experience working with early childhood students
• Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Openness to feedback and ability to follow recommendations from lead teachers
• Ability to multitask and quickly adapt to changing needs and group dynamics
• Experience integrating technology into teaching practice (Google applications, MacBooks/iPads, Promethean Board, etc.)
• Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community and introducing students to diverse cultures, experiences, and perspectives
