Assistant Teacher

About the role

Responsibilities

• Aid the classroom teacher in implementing the daily curriculum.
• Collaborate and communicate with parents, teachers, administration, and other employees at The Salvation Army.
• Foster a nurturing atmosphere and ensure positive discipline methods.
• Maintain a safe, stable, and loving environment, ensuring classrooms are clean, materials are stocked, and doors are locked at the end of each day.
• Support The Children’s Learning Center Administration and Salvation Army staff in maintaining a high-quality program.
• Pursue activities to enhance professional development and stay informed about EEC regulations, center policy, and Salvation Army policies.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
• Perform duties in compliance with The Salvation Army’s policies and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: 18 years of age with a Highschool diploma or GED.
• Experience: Must be a team player and able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
• Physical Requirements: Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or occasionally continuously. Grasp, push, pull objects such as reference materials, files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Operate telephone and other electronic communication devices. Lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to be creative, original, intuitive, and perceptive. Must be able to think logically and critically. Must be able to envision a project from beginning to end. Must be able to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions. Must be able to help the classroom teacher.
