Assistant Teacher

About the role

The Goddard School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our team. This position will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, supporting children’s development, and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Absorb and implement age-appropriate lesson plans under the guidance of the Lead Teacher
• Engage children in active learning and positive interactions to enhance their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
• Prepare and maintain classroom materials to ensure a clean and inviting space
• Supervise children, providing individualized support and fostering a sense of belonging
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and daily activities
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing atmosphere

Requirements

• A high school diploma is required, with an associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting is preferred
• Show empathy and compassion towards children
• Work independently without direct supervision
• Have a basic understanding of child development
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with handling children

Qualifications

• Ability to pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience, and credential requirements

• Basic knowledge of child development and educational theories
