Assistant Teacher

About the role

The Goddard School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, prepare classroom materials, supervise and provide individualized support, communicate with families, adhere to health and safety guidelines, and take children outside daily.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging
• Absorb children’s progress and daily activities to families
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment
• Take children outside daily for both structured and free exploration

Requirements

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children

• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
