Assistant Teacher

About the role

The Goddard School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to assist the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children.

Responsibilities

• Absorb and implement age-appropriate lesson plans as directed by the Lead Teacher
• Engage children in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development activities
• Prepare and maintain classroom materials to ensure a clean and safe learning space
• Supervise children during playtime and group activities, fostering a sense of community
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and daily experiences
• Maintain compliance with health and safety standards and regulatory requirements
• Assist with daily care routines, including meal preparation and outdoor play

Requirements

• A high school diploma is required, with an associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting is preferred
• Show empathy and compassion towards children
• Be able to work independently and without direct supervision
• Have a basic understanding of child development
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
