Assistant Teacher
About the role
The Goddard School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our team. This position will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, supporting children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, preparing classroom materials, supervising children, and fostering a sense of belonging.
Responsibilities
- Absorb and implement age-appropriate lesson plans under the guidance of the Lead Teacher
- Engage children actively and positively to enhance their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth
- Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment
- Provide individualized support to children and encourage a sense of community
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and daily activities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations
- Participate in daily care routines and tasks to create a nurturing atmosphere
Requirements
- A high school diploma is required
- Show empathy and compassion towards young children
- Work effectively without direct supervision
- Have a basic understanding of child development
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed during child-related tasks
Qualifications
- Ability to pass required state background checks and meet local education, experience, and credential requirements

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
