Assistant Teacher

Position Summary

Assist teacher in providing appropriate program for all children and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in providing a developmentally appropriate program for all of the children.
• Affords assistance in creating an environment that supports children's growth and development.
• Develops and maintains a positive relationship with all of the children and their families.
• Effectively guides children's behavior in an age appropriate and positive manner.
• Constructively participates in staff meetings and attends meetings with supervisor.
• Maintains the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and cultural needs of individual children.
• Communicates appropriately with families regarding children's daily activities both verbally and written as needed.
• Ensures the safety of the children and promotes good health habits.
• Works toward achievement of classroom’s annual goals.
• Works with colleagues and community representatives to support children and families.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent OR One (1) year of experience working with children less than 13 years
• Required Licensure/Certification: None
