About This Role

Friends Center for Children in New Haven, CT is hiring an Assistant Teacher to support daily operations at an early childhood education center. This position offers $36,000 – $42,000/Yr and requires relevant professional experience.

What You'll Do

• Planning, supervising, and implementing infant/toddler curriculum, guided by Quaker values and best practices.
• Documenting children's observations and developmental progress through learning stories and ongoing assessments.
• Maintaining a positive attitude and building relationships among staff, families, and volunteers.
• Maintaining a safe, organized environment that reflects our philosophy.
• Attending staff meetings and participating in ongoing evaluation and assessment of children's developmental levels.

Requirements

• Good oral and written skills.
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
• A Child Development Association Certificate (CDA).
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Cultural sensitivity and proven ability to work with a diverse population.
• Experience in a child-care setting preferred.
• Experience in a cooperative model.
• Fluency in Spanish or other second languages.
• CPR certified or willing to immediately obtain training.
