Assistant Teacher - 4974

Responsibilities

• Follow all OSHA requirements
• Aid in the development of program goals and early childhood activities
• Prepare lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulations
• Create a nurturing and supportive environment for children
• Instruct children in various early childhood educational, recreational, and social activities
• Engage children in team building activities
• Support children with dressing, toileting, and hygiene needs
• Manage classroom activities and behavior
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions
• Collaborate with program coordinator and/or director for supervision
• Communicate with parents as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required, some coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred
• One year of experience in early childhood or daycare setting
• Proficiency in English, Spanish a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other business technologies
• Mandated Reporter – Child Abuse & Maltreatment Certificate by New York State
• Adult Child & Infant CPR/ Pediatric First Aid Certificate
• Excellent communication, time management, organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills

Skills/Abilities

• Strong time management and communication skills
• Effective writing skills
• Ability to work with infants and preschool children

Physical Requirements

• Use a computer for prolonged periods
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally
• Stand, walk, or sit for long periods
• Climb five flights of stairs if required for home visits and fieldwork
• Bend and retrieve objects/documents
• Travel within the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
• Travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required for home visits and fieldwork
