Assistant Teacher ( 2- 5 year old)

About the role

The Goddard School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, support children’s development, and maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Absorb and implement age-appropriate lesson plans as directed by the Lead Teacher
• Engage children in active learning and positive interactions to enhance their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
• Prepare and maintain classroom materials to ensure a clean and inviting space
• Supervise children, providing individualized support and fostering a sense of belonging
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s progress and daily activities
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to maintain a secure environment
• Assist with daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing atmosphere

Requirements

• A high school diploma is required, with an associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting is preferred
• Show empathy and compassion towards children
• Work effectively without direct supervision
• Have a basic understanding of child development
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed during child handling

Qualifications

• Pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience, and credential requirements

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff
• Knowledge of child development and educational theories
