Assistant Swim Team Coach

About the role

The Ocean Community YMCA is seeking an Assistant Swim Team Coach to support their competitive swim program. This part-time position involves working alongside the Head Coach to lead practices, support at swim meets, and foster a safe, positive environment for young athletes.

Responsibilities

• Be on deck during practices and meets
• Aid in team training and development
• Support swimmer safety and development in line with YMCA values
• Follow child protection and abuse prevention protocols

Requirements

• Competitive swim team experience
• Lifeguard, CPR, AED, First Aid, and YMCA swim certifications (or willingness to obtain)
• Passion for youth mentoring and team leadership

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children and adolescents
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Skills

• Swimming coaching skills
• Team management and leadership abilities
• Child protection knowledge

Pay

$17.34 per hour

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 5pm-7pm (flexible for additional meet coverage)
