About the role
Under the direction of the Head Swim Coach, the Assistant Swim Coach assists in developing, organizing, and implementing the JCC Swim Team.
Responsibilities
- Provides competitive swimming instruction to swim team members in Novice to Age group swimming groups.
- Organizes and conducts team workouts.
- Works effectively with other coaches as assigned.
- Provides motivation, support, and guidance.
- Works hand in hand with the Head Coach.
- Attends swim meets and swim team functions agreed upon with the Head Coach.
Requirements
- 18 years or older.
- Current American Red Cross First Aid Certification.
- Current American Red Cross Community CPR certification, or equivalent.
- One year or more of swim team experience preferred.
- USA Coaching Certification Preferred.
- Ability to teach proper competitive swimming techniques.
- Demonstrates knowledge of sound competitive swimming skills, and the ability to implement and teach these skills in a positive, healthy manner.
- Knowledge of basic exercise.
- Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability) preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is usually fast-paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with swimmers and their parents, other agency staff, and members.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
- Often required to stand.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
