About the role
As an Assistant Survey Manager, you will oversee survey teams at one or more project sites, providing technical input regarding engineering standards, specifications, design instructions, and land mapping. Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities
- Provide work control lines and elevations required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff (e.g., forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports).
- Ensure crews perform layout work competently and accurately.
- Check as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
- Assist with conducting quantity calculations as needed.
- Monitor and maintain the condition and calibration of surveying equipment.
- Coordinate survey activities with the assigned engineer and superintendents to meet construction requirements.
- Manage survey department resources and the department-assigned budget.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geometrics, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in survey or land mapping required.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Developing leadership and management skills.
- Expert knowledge of land mapping and technical survey instrument techniques.

Pay
Salary range: USD $110,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year.
