Assistant Supervisor
About the Position
We are seeking a high-energy, self-starting individual to supervise a Residential IRA in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York. This role maximizes managerial and clinical skills in an interdisciplinary team environment with ongoing support and training. The Assistant Supervisor provides staff training, mentoring, and supervision of 5-15 direct reports, ensuring program oversight, quality assurance, compliance with NYS regulations, clinical programming, advocacy for individuals supported, and liaison with families.
The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working directly with people of all ages with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), creating opportunities for Living, Loving, Working, and Learning. We seek an energetic Assistant Supervisor who can handle challenging situations with patience and understanding.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the health, safety, and habilitation of individuals supported, consistent with agency philosophy and department practice.
- Maintain appropriate, therapeutic supervision in the residence, day program, or community to protect health and safety.
- Provide program/floor coverage as needed.
- Promote and maintain program excellence.
- Involve family members and stakeholders, including professionals, in the team process.
- Attend meetings and consistently communicate YAI’s mission statement to staff.
- Foster professional development through regular supervision, training, and evaluations.
- Supervise staff to meet the needs of individuals supported, agency standards, and professional growth.
- Uphold organizational culture and ensure a harassment- and discrimination-free work environment.
- Participate actively in the hiring process.
- Maintain direct relationships with staff and build morale.
- Utilize participatory management and foster an Open-Door Policy.
- Nurture staff development and supervise/manage teams.
- Maintain oversight and compliance with role-specific systems.
- Foster communication among program supports, agency supports, and external supports.
- Perform responsibilities as they currently exist or evolve to meet department needs under supervision.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (some college preferred).
- Prior Direct Support Professional experience.
- Background in supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or mental health.
- Valid Driver’s License.

Schedule
Full-Time only: Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (may vary depending on location).
Pay
$23.10/hour.
