As the Assistant Materials Supervisor at our Houston, TX facility, you will play a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives and becoming the world’s foremost custom solution provider. Under the direction of the Materials Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate a team in a manufacturing environment, driving a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement while meeting key performance metrics and exceeding customer expectations.
Our cutting-edge headquarters in Faribault, MN, is partially solar- and wind-powered by our own microgrid, and we push boundaries at additional facilities in Troy, MI; Merrimack, NH; Burnsville, MN; and Murfreesboro, TN. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the fabrication team to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Partner with the area Supervisor to determine weekly employee schedules, including authorizing overtime based on business needs.
- Coordinate daily team activities to ensure smooth workflow, quality production, inventory accuracy, and timely delivery.
- Assign tasks and projects based on team members’ skills, expertise, and workload capacity.
- Monitor the cable process to ensure components and assemblies meet quality, environmental, and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of production data in Epicor, including work progress and any issues encountered.
- Identify training needs and provide coaching to enhance team members’ skills in fabrication techniques and equipment operation.
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and tools, coordinating with the maintenance team for repairs.
- Track machine downtime and address equipment malfunctions.
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure team members use necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Continuously evaluate fabrication processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement and employee empowerment by ensuring standardized work, safety, and 5S compliance.
- Act as a change agent within the department, driving waste elimination and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of daily production, machine usage, and assist in preparing reports for leadership.
- Manage internal inventory of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Support the Supervisor in conducting safety audits and implementing training programs.
- Mentor hourly associates and facilitate problem-solving in the work area.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Manufacturing/production experience in a fast-paced, continuous improvement environment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and MRP transactions (Epicor preferred).
- Excellent people skills with a proven ability in supervising, coaching, and training employees.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth work environment.
- A passion for Trystar’s culture and a commitment to delivering on growth and performance metrics.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) capability is a plus.
