About the role

As the Assistant Superintendent, Mission Critical, you will plan and execute the construction program according to Suffolk’s procedures, including safety, quality, and schedule. Responsibilities may be divided by area or trade discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and distribute construction documents to the entire project team, including plans, specifications, RFIs, bulletins, and field reports.
  • Manage layout and verify the correctness of field dimensions.
  • Verify subcontractor layout to ensure compliance with established line and grade.
  • Administer Suffolk’s Quality Management Program, specifically First Delivery and Benchmark Inspections. Document deficiencies and track them to final resolution.
  • Continuously monitor job progress on-site to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Document all daily construction activity using written reports, photographs, sketches, and software tools.
  • Create and distribute daily and weekly work plans, including schedules and logistics plans.
  • Attend and participate in weekly and/or monthly meetings with customers and clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Compile and maintain all permits, testing, and inspections required for project completion and acceptance.
  • Assist in administering the Suffolk Safety Program, including pre-construction meetings, pre-task planning, daily monitoring, and enforcement of safety requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor Suffolk’s Field Engineers in their daily work.
  • Communicate clear safety expectations to project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in mission critical/data center construction.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods; talk or hear; and perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills. Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with arms and/or hands are also required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend time in an office environment with quiet to moderate noise levels, as well as job site walking.

Pay

Base salary for this position is one component of Suffolk’s total rewards package. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience, and education. Suffolk regularly reviews salary ranges to reflect market trends.
