Assistant Superintendent
About the role
If you're the kind of person who can't walk past a problem without fixing it, notices the details others miss, and takes pride in leaving a jobsite better than you found it, this role was built for you. At UrbanCore, we believe planning and discipline create freedom. Great jobsites don't happen by accident, they're built through preparation, communication, and relentless attention to detail.
We're looking for an Assistant Superintendent who wants to be in the field, support the team, and help create jobsites that are safe, organized, and predictable.
What it's like to work here
Most construction environments accept chaos as part of the job. We don't. UrbanCore is a collaborative environment built on mutual respect; for the work, the plan, and the people doing it. We believe the best projects are built through:
- Clear expectations instead of constant urgency
- Disciplined planning instead of last-minute scrambling
- Accountability without blame
- Respect for every trade partner on site
When we execute well, our teams:
- Build better projects.
- Create flexibility through discipline.
- Protect their time and energy.
- Deliver consistent results.
The role
The Assistant Superintendent is the Superintendent's right hand. You're responsible for helping the project run smoothly every single day by keeping the field organized, identifying issues before they become problems, and making sure work is ready before crews arrive.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include:
- Supporting daily operations alongside the Superintendent.
- Walking the project continuously to identify deficiencies, safety concerns, and roadblocks before they impact production.
- Maintaining high standards for quality, organization, and craftsmanship.
- Coordinating inspections and maintaining accurate field documentation.
- Assisting with punch list and closeout activities.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Leading daily huddles and foreman meetings.
- Maintaining zone control and predictable workflow across the project.
- Tracking observations, handoffs, and roadblocks.
- Keeping project information current and visible.
- Reinforcing consistent execution of UrbanCore's field processes every day.
Logistics responsibilities include:
- Coordinating material deliveries with vendors and trade partners.
- Ensuring materials are properly staged, protected, and available when crews need them.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, professional jobsite.
- Supporting implementation of the site's logistics plan.
Safety responsibilities include:
- Conducting daily safety walks.
- Identifying hazards before they become incidents.
- Supporting trade orientations and maintaining documentation.
- Reinforcing safe work practices across the entire site.
- Promoting a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Qualifications
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Take pride in staying organized.
- Notice details other people overlook.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully.
- Enjoy being in the field instead of behind a desk.
- Take ownership without waiting to be asked.
- Stay calm under pressure.
- Believe preparation prevents problems.
- Care about quality as much as production.
- Respect every person working on the project.
Preferred experience includes:
- Construction field experience.
- Experience reading construction drawings.
- ProCore experience.
Why UrbanCore
We're building more than buildings. We're building a better way to work. Our systems are designed to eliminate unnecessary chaos so our teams can focus on building great projects, supporting one another, and going home proud of what they accomplished each day.
Benefits and Pay
Annual salary of $65,000 to $95,000 per year plus bonus. Additional benefits include:
- Employee Health Coverage, 100% paid by company.
- 401K with Company Match of 100% up to 3%, and 50% up to 5%.
- Flexible Vacation.
