ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Assembles members of organization (supervisory, clerical, engineering, and other workers) at start of project.
  • Aid Estimating in bidding opportunities and Preconstruction services.
  • Engage in the development of detailed CPM Schedule.
  • Engage in the development of detailed scopes of work.
  • Engage in the development of project site logistics plan.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents.
  • Manage Russell’s labor force to achieve optimum performance.
  • Review and understand material budgets and negotiate purchase orders.
  • Review and understand equipment budgets and negotiate rental rates.
  • Monitor project costs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership in quality process.
  • Provide leadership in the safety and accident prevention programs.
  • Document daily construction activities.
  • Engage in weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Issue and maintain short term schedules.
  • Work with Project Engineers in Shop Drawing and Submittal process.
  • Verify that As-Built drawings are kept current.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and actively encourage others to do the same.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 3 - 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; explosives; and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
