About the role
The Assistant Superintendent at Elmington Construction assists in leading and managing the field team and oversees all work on site. Key responsibilities include quality standards, inspections, safety regulations, orderliness on-site, adherence to company guidelines, collaboration with the Project Manager team, and coordination of subcontractors and equipment/materials on site.

- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - OSHA 30 Hour preferred. If not current, to receive within the first year of employment and keep current.
- Ability to travel if needed
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and leadership
- Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines efficiently.
Requirements
- A degree in Building Science, Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred, but can be substituted with experience.
- Minimum of ten years related construction experience and/or training.
- Commercial/Multi-Family Construction experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge, management, and occasional installation of rough carpentry including layout of foundations/walls/decks, installing wood blocking/hardware/wood guard rails, setting frames/doors/windows, minor concrete formwork, and minor demolition.
- Models safety as a core guiding principle and brings safety concerns to the Superintendent.
- Holds subs accountable to proper housekeeping of project site.
- Communicates any material delivery needs to project team & superintendent.
- Performs a detailed review of project documents to stay ahead of RFI's and future coordination issues.
- Aids in daily reports, progress reports, and compliance reports.
- Documents subcontractor issues.
- Aids in planning the project and updating project schedule.
- Plans and establishes the flow of the work activities on the project.
- Reviews approved submittals and ensures installed work is to submittals & specs.
- Helps drive project closeout and owner turnover.
- Demonstrates adherence to EC policy and processes and teaches EC policy and processes to new team members.
- Prioritizes and actively mentors and trains others.
